6 IIMs GDPI were all combined with IIM I.There was no GD there was a Written Assessment Test.
THe question to the written test was :” Was Indian Economy powerful enough to resist Recession?”
I wrote about the Structure of indian economy and the various regulations that are there which included talking about IRDA , SEBI , RBI and how they control respective spheres.I talked about different rates like repo rate,reverse repo rate ,bank rate and how they were driven by different conditions .Relationships between Central Bank which is RBI and the Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) and Regional Rural Banks. Then auditing agencies that india has. How banks from the skeleton of indian financial market and also the role of Central Auditor general .
The interview begun shortly.I was very tensed.
There were 3 interviewers in the panel
interviewer 1 ,” you are from vivekananda mission school..and ur name is uddalak..so what is the meaning of your name?”
I said,” rising light..it is based on mahabharata.”
interviewer 2,”you believe in epics? can we ask questions from epics?”
I said,” no please..i know this much only because it is the first question in most interviews. My father loves epics but my knowledge on it is bare minimum.”
Interviewer 2 ,”so what u are good at?”
I said,” In maths and computers”
Interviewer 2 ,” how many prime numbers are there between 8900 and 8967?”
I said ,” i need to write a computer program for that .”
Interviewer 2,” we dont have time..u just tell the lines”
I said,”

for i = 8900 to 8967
for j = 2 to i-1
if i mod j =0 then break
if (j+1 )== i then k=k+1”
Interviewer 2 ,” which is better kozikode or ranchi?”
I said ,”kozikode”
Interviewer 2,” which is your best call?”
I said,”XLRI”
Interviewer 2 ,”what did they ask u there?”
I said ,”regarding various social issues .I have answered them mostly. “
Interviewer 2,” what are top 3 social issues?”
I said,” for me it would be high girl child mortality rate, sex ratio decreasing causing gender imbalance and lastly corruption”
Interviewer 2,” what are your hobbies?”
I said,”writing shortstories and poems”
Interviewer 2,” tell me why dont we use computers to find prime numbers? “
I said,” because they need exponential amount of space for very high numbers of 19 digits plus range.Besides number theory is infinite and it can never end. So the bigger the number the bigger the amount of space needed. So at a point computer limitation in terms of cpu calculation capability and number storing space becomes conspicuous.”
Interviewer 2,” do you want to appear in cat again for higher iim s?”
I said,” NO sir this is my last attempt. I have cracked snap , gmat,cat,xat ,ibsat,nmat and even then if i have to appear again it would be very frustrating. I have tried my best.”
Interviewer 2,” xlri is your best call which is ranked 4th behind iim a b c ..u could have got iim a b c !”
I said,”sir i was not shortlisted there because may be my profile was not that good which wont be improved to that level in one year and it would be useless to try and get 100 percentile.Because even with a 100 percentile it is not guaranteed that i may get selected.”
RESULT : CONVERT IN IIM RANCHI AND IIM I
